May 31 (Renewables Now) – The 402-MW Veja Mate offshore wind farm in the German North Sea has completed construction, the project company, Veja Mate Offshore Project GmbH, said today.
The last of the wind farm’s 67 Siemens SWT-6.0-154 turbines was installed last Thursday and commissioning activities were completed today.
All 67 turbines are now feeding electricity into the German grid, almost four months ahead of schedule agreed at financial close, said chief executive Henrik Scheinemann.
The EUR-1.9-billion (USD 2.1bn) wind farm is owned by Highland Group Holdings Ltd, Siemens Financial Services and a fund managed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). Its construction was completed in less than 14 months and 23 months after financial close.
Veja Mate is expected to produce more than 1.6 TWh of electricity per year.
